New Year’s Resolutions for Your Home

Paul Gassett - Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Can you believe it? It’s almost 2014. While you’re making resolutions to improve yourself, don’t forget to make goals to improve your home. Some of those things may be ways to maximize energy efficiency and save you money – which in turn will make you a happier homeowner throughout the year.

Schedule a Checkup with an HVAC Technician

This is the only way to be sure your furnace and air conditioning units are operating at their best. Qualified HVAC technicians will inspect your systems and make suggestions on maintenance so your units will last as long as they possibly can.

Change Filters Regularly

Dirty filters restrict air flow and make your furnace or AC unit work harder, resulting in higher energy bills. So check your filters often - monthly during peak seasons - and change or clean them out when needed.

Seal Windows and Doors

If you feel a draft in your home, there’s probably a space around your windows or doors where cold air is coming in and heated air is going out. Spend a day or so checking for air leaks, and seal them up with caulk or tape. You’ll be surprised how much lower your bills will be.

Go Digital

It’s time to get rid of the analog dial on the wall. A digital, programmable thermostat will let you pre-set the time and temps for your homes so it kicks on and turns off when it’s told to do so.  And aside from its convenience, a programmable thermostat can save you up to $200 per year in energy costs.

Replace Old Units

Make this the year you switch out old inefficient furnace and AC units with modern, energy-efficient systems. New systems provide more comfortable heating and cooling, last longer, require fewer repairs and will save money on monthly bills.

We at 72 Degrees hope you have a safe and Happy New Year. Let us know how we can help you reach your goals for your home in 2014.

Autumn Is Here

Matthew Stewart - Saturday, September 21, 2013

Tomorrow, September 22, autumn will officially begin. Now the leaves will begin to change, pumpkin patches will sprout up, and the air will become cool and crisp.

Soon, though, the weather will grow colder, and you want to make sure your home’s heating system is ready for whatever elements autumn and winter will bring. Make sure to schedule a furnace tune-up inspection, which will keep your heating unit in good shape throughout the cold months.

At 72 Degrees, our professionals will do a 60-90 minute precision tune-up, which goes through 17 steps and ensures that your heating system is safe and efficient and won’t break down when you need it the most. The Most Comfortable $20 You'll Ever Save

Matthew Stewart - Monday, April 15, 2013

Saving money always feels good, but this kind of money-saving will literally feel good, as it refers to your home’s air conditioning system. And now that temperatures outside are rising, you’re going to likely rely on your A/C quite a bit in the coming months.

Because of this, chances are higher that a component of your A/C system could break, leaving you to sweat it out while waiting for a repairman (and costly repairs). Instead of waiting for a problem to occur, you can thwart those pesky repairs by scheduling an A/C check-up to make sure it’s running smoothly.

Bottom line: Your home’s comfort system needs to be professionally maintained in order to last a long time and save you money on utility bills and unwanted repairs.

Schedule your A/C check-up online today to beat the heat and live comfortably.

72 Degrees guarantees you an 100% profit in energy savings, or your money back! This goes to show how much an A/C check-up can save you in money and power used.

Air Duct Cleaning

Paul Gassett - Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Toward the end of January is about the time that most people are falling off the wagon of their resolutions or finally getting around to starting them. Even though it’s the end of the month, we can help you get a clean start to the new year. One place you may not even think to look is inside your air ducts.

Research suggests that cleaning HVAC elements can improve the efficiency of your system. This can give it a longer operating life, as well as possible energy and maintenance cost savings. The National Air Duct Cleaning Association experts say that the need for cleaning depends on many factors, including pets, smoking, recent renovations, local weather conditions and overall home cleanliness. It is recommended that your air ducts are cleaned every 3-5 years.

One way you can prevent duct contamination is to remove dust and vacuum your home regularly. Moisture should not be present in ducts. The presence of condensation or high relative humidity is an important indicator of the potential for mold growth on any type of duct. To prevent moisture, repair any related leaks in a timely manner.

Our Air Duct Cleaning System, at 72 Degrees, removes all particles in the air delivery system and breaks up any particles stuck to the inside of the duct.

Air Conditioning Costs May Be Going Up

Matthew Stewart - Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Is it costing you more to keep cool this summer? If so, it may be due, in part, to the rising cost of the popular refrigerant for cooling systems, R-22. The EPA has projected reduction of R-22's availability by as much as 45%. Other sources, predict the EPA is planning to cut its usage by 11 - 47%. The exact amount has not been fully established yet. If your system is older than two years, you may have already experienced an increase in the cost to maintain and/or repair your unit due to the rising costs and as these systems are phased out.

To ensure your system is in top working order, contact the professionals at 72 Degrees Air Conditioning & Heating. FOR A LIMITED TIME, when you have us install a new Enerpeace™ energy-saving cooling system in your home, you get to choose from some “super cool” bonus options. Find out more by clicking here.
