72 Degrees Player of the Week Announced

Matthew Stewart - Friday, September 09, 2011

WHKY and 72 Degrees Announces Unifour Player of the Week for Football Games Played Sept. 3

72 Degrees is proud to sponsor the 12th Annual Player of the Week Award. Each week, coaches are asked to submit a nomination of an area high school student player who best represented his team through teamwork and dedication. Player of the Week, Shaquan Reid from Hickory High School, did just that with 21 carries on 113 yards and 3 touchdowns. This meant a huge win for the Hickory High Red Tornadoes.

Coach John Worley, head football coach, commented he was one of the team's leaders. "If we could get people to work as hard as him, we're gonna be okay."

72 Degrees would like to commend Reid and all of his accomplishments. A job well done!

Seasonal Fall Allergies Got You Down? Consider Your Ducts!

Matthew Stewart - Wednesday, September 07, 2011

Fall is fast approaching, meaning sneezes, sniffles, and those dreaded fall allergies. Ragweed, mold, and dust mites are all to blame. Since more of your time will be spent indoors, have you considered the indoor air quality in your home? Heating and air conditioning ducts are dark and damp places. This provides an excellent breeding ground for dust, mold, and fungus to flourish. Most furnace manufacturers recommend getting your furnace unit cleaned and inspected every year...but, what about your air ducts?

If you haven't had your ducts cleaned or it has been some time since you've had it done, ask a professional. After all, it's the air you and your family breathes! This is especially critical for those who suffer from seasonal allergies.

Matthew Stewart - Wednesday, August 24, 2011
With fall fast approaching, it's not too soon to start thinking about the cold winter months. In fact, this is the perfect time to start thinking of ways to prepare for colder temperatures. One way to do this is to have your furnace inspected, even if you aren't experiencing problems. Why? Many furnaces today still have potentially defective heat exchangers. These defective parts can pose a potentially dangerous hazard to you and your family.

It's a good idea to have your furnace inspected to ensure its safety. Protect your family...contact a professional to have your furnace tuned-up, cleaned, and safety inspected.

Girl Power - Teen Girl Wins Google's Science Award on Indoor Air Quality!

Matthew Stewart - Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Indoor air quality is something that is rarely ever considered in terms of asthma. Normally, most considerations are given to the outdoor environment. That's what prompted a gifted, young scientist to 'think outside the box' and consider the impact of indoor air quality on breathing.

Naomi Shah, 16, won her age group award with a project demonstrating ways to reduce reliance on asthma medication by improving indoor air quality in Google's first-ever science fair. This young scientist was awarded a $25,000 scholarship and internships at Google.

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) ranks indoor air quality as one of the top five environmental dangers, ranking it as one of the leading health risks today. This is due to the construction materials used for newer energy efficency. These 'sealed tight' homes don't allow air to escape nor enter the home as they did 30 to 40 years ago. The data is concerning.

How to select a contractor for your heating and cooling needs

Matthew Stewart - Thursday, July 21, 2011
Use this checklist when searching for a reputable contractor:

[ ] Does the company conduct background checks and regular drug tests on its technicians who enter your home?
[ ] Does the company offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee?
[ ] Does the company answer its phone with a live person 24 hours a day?
[ ] Does the company offer a wide range of services including indoor air quality solutions for asthma and allergy problems?

If you can say yes to all of the above, then you are in good hands!
A perfect example is 72 Degrees of Hickory. Call them and put yourself and your family in good hands. 828-325-0072 or visit www.72degreesofhickory.com.
